How does Heritage Hill Foundation use contributions in the fight against cancer?

Cancer Family Care - 2008
Heritage Hill Foundation sponsored the 2008 Camp Courage for Cancer Family Care.  This is a one day camp where children get to forget about cancer and have some fun.  They also get the opportunity to ask a doctor any questions they want about cancer, cures, treatments, and care.  The camp was held in Rowe Woods in Milford and attended by 27 children ranging in age from 5 to 14.  The theme of the day was Hawaiian Luau, everyone wore leis, some even had on grass skirts!  Heritage Hill is very proud of sponsoring this camp and hopes to continue its support in the future.

Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati - 2007

Heritage Hill was very proud to sponsor a room at the Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati for the year.  Heritage Hill provided a room which allowed families to stay without the financial commitments of a hotel room while their children are receiving treatment at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati.  The Heritage Hill also provided items from the Ronald McDonald House wish list: a playstation game console, new pool cues, bed spreads for every room in the house, and some new weight equipment for the weight room.

Cancer Family Care - 2006
Heritage Hill donated $15,000 to Cancer Family Care at Andrew's Annual Art Auction in 2006.  The mission of Cancer Family Care is to strengthen the well-being and alleviate the suffering of children, adults, and families coping with cancer. This organization was founded in 1971 to serve the residents of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.  They provide counseling and understanding to cancer patients and their families to help them cope with the devastating emotional impact of disease and loss.  Cancer Family Care's social workers are specially trained to help individuals and families deal with the fears, frustrations, and communication difficulties that occur when cancer is diagnosed.

The Holmes on Eden - 2005
Located in Cincinnati and associated with the University of Cincinnati, The Holmes on Eden is an affordable and comfortable hotel for University Hospital patients, their families, and friends.  The Heritage Hill Foundation has been providing financial support for numerous cancer patients receiving treatment at the Barrett Center in Cincinnati.  Since 2001, we have provided accommodations for many guests hard hit with the realities of living with cancer.  In addition to providing free rooms, Heritage Hill donates comfort items such as movies and books to make the guests of Holmes on Eden feel more at home.  And in Memory of Andrew Smith, Holmes on Eden created Andrew’s Quiet room: a quiet place for visitors to sit and collect their thoughts.

In addition, a laptop computer utilized in the Holmes Business Center was donated by the Cincinnati Computer Cooperative through the Heritage Hill Foundation.

The Miracle House - 2004
The Miracle House provides housing, meals, and advocacy to caregivers and patients coming to New York City for critical medical treatment.  Andrew and his family received incredible support from The Miracle House during his battle with cancer.  The Heritage Hill Foundation continues to support The Miracle House in his honor; including a $10,000 donation that was applied toward furniture in a new Miracle House apartment.  Displayed within the living room of this apartment will be photographs from Andrew’s battle with cancer and the support network of his family and friends.

Dr. Robert J. Goulet - 2003
Dr Robert J. Goulet, Jr. is the Medical Director of the Breast Care & Research Center at The University Cancer Center in Indianapolis, IN.  Dr. Goulet’s research has played a significant role in the fight against cancer.  The Heritage Hill Foundation presented Dr. Goulet with a check for $10,000 to aid him in this critical research.  As he accepted his check, Dr. Goulet recalled the time he spent with Andrew and Andrew’s phenomenal desire to survive his cancer.  We should all be proud to know that a man of Dr. Goulet’s professionalism and humanity is with us in our fight for a cure.
